Hello, I’m Eric Charles.
Animals have always been central to my life, and in 2012, I adopted Cain, a Doberman who had been abused and abandoned. He went everywhere with me, and I photographed him every day. He passed away in early 2022 and I am grateful for the 10 years I had with him and all that he taught me. He saved my life and he is the reason I am still here today. Cain wasn’t just my dog — he was my hero, my inspiration, and the reason I chase stories through my lens to this day.
I picked up a camera as a way to escape panic attacks and focus my mind. Photography became a lens through which I could explore the world — and a way to capture the moments that matter most.
I would describe my work as cinematic, shaped by storytelling. I like to choose tones and colours in my editing process that have a look and feel of film. Whether it be adding a bit of grain or adjusting shadows, I want you to feel like you're looking at a movie.
I approach each session with curiosity: I want to understand you, your pet, and the images you’re hoping to bring to life. Every photograph is deliberate, intentional, and designed to evoke a reaction — to move you, to give you chills, to preserve the bond you share. When you work with me, it’s about more than a picture. It’s about creating something enduring, something that captures the energy, presence, and personality of your animal — images that aren’t just seen, but felt.
I’m grateful for every person and pet I get to work with. Each session brings something unique — a different story, personality, and perspective — and I’m honoured to be invited into those moments.
It’s a privilege to create images that reflect the lives, bonds, and stories of so many different people and animals.
Thank you for trusting me with your story.
